Session Description
What do games, virtual worlds, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) offer for online learning? Join us as we explore these technologies and discuss their use in online classes.

Cynthia Calongne, D.CS.
Cynthia Calongne, D.CS, known as Lyr Lobo, is Professor of Doctoral Studies at Colorado Technical University and teaches computer science for CCCS. Dr. Calongne is a researcher, author and speaker with over 250 conference presentations.

She received the Thinkerer award at the 2017 Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education for her commitment to learning, community, and education in 3D immersive environments. Her team won the 25,000 grand prize in the Federal Virtual World Challenge for their Mars space simulation, which led to her collaboration on Bar Karma, a TV series by Will Wright, famous for The Sims© and SimCity©. Today, she is a leader with ISTE’s Games and Simulations Network, organizes the OpenSimulator Community Conference, serves as Education Chair of the Nonprofit Commons Board, and conducts research at Virtual Harmony.
